Job Duties:
- Research product problems and distribute service information to all concerned
- Ensure technical matters are accurately defined: what is failing, hours at failure, conditions, cause and frequency of failure, locations, known fixes, temporary repairs made and recurrences, unknowns
- Summarize impact: high repair costs, downtime, policy dollars spent, special parts exchange programs, unusual parts replacements, loaner machine guarantees, price discounts, lost sales
- Prioritize problems, develop action plans, determine if in-house solution is available, develop one if not available, utilize all internal and external technical information and staff to resolve issues
- Assist in failure analysis and provide written failure analysis reports
- Identify application/operation problems such as: overload, abuse and poor maintenance
- Investigate accidents and submit incident reports
- Provide technical advice on warranty issues, environmental compliance and regulations
Interpret SOS results
- Assist sales and parts departments with technical matters and provide the appropriate product for the customer's job
- Actively participate in product problem management
- Utilize TIBs, communicate defects to NACD/Product Group staff, attend district TC and Hi C meetings, work with district on high impact problems
- Assist technicians with training and field repairs

The primary focus of this position will be supporting the EPG & Diesel products (both Caterpillar and Allied) in the western portion of our territory. The preferred candidate must also be knowledgeable in EPG, switchgear, UPS & ATS equipment. The candidate must have strong verbal and written communication skills and good computer skills. Candidate will be required to interface with customers, technicians, and manufacturer's representatives. It should be noted that we work on a wide range of equipment beyond Cat. Must maintain a good working relationship with the union, sales, rental, service operations and technicians.

This position reports to the Power Systems Product Support Manager and will be located in the New Stanton branch. The position requires travel to customer job sites, branch locations, and meetings on an as needed basis. The job will require both evening and weekend work.

Education / Experience:
Working knowledge experience acceptable to the company.
