Job Description:

The plant manager will oversee the daily operation of our new rebuild facility for natural gas engines.  This will include all phases of the operation including receiving, tear down, cleaning, inspection, machining, parts acquisition, assembly, final testing and shipment.  This individual will provide leadership and expertise in order to provide an excellent customer experience that improves safety, value, efficiency and reliability.

Job Responsibilities:

- Direct and manage plant operations for production, maintenance, quality and shipping and receiving.

- Develop and control profits, plans, and budgets.

-Implement cost effective systems of control over capital, operating expenditures, manpower, wages and salaries.

- Manage capital asset maintenance.

- Establish and monitor overall plant performance for production and quality standards.

- Control and minimize labor overtime, premium freight and repair expenses.

- Provide hands on expertise, leadership and training for the deployment of lean tools; 5S+1, Kanban, VSM, DDSC, Visual Management, etc.  Lead continuous improvement initiatives designed to improve quality, and reduce costs.

- Responsible for improving the profit of the facility by reducing cost and increasing efficiency

- Encourages and facilitates implementation of improvements and development of new processes and products within the facility.

- Identify and understand business requirements, developing the strategy and application roadmap needed to satisfy those requirements.

- Provide oversight on capital expenditures to improve processes, reliability and cost.

- Interviewing, hiring, training and evaluating manufacturing employees.  Ensure adherence to company policies and regulations.

- Participate in the selections and justification of capital equipment.

- Direct all production supervisors in preparation and implementation of production operating plans and strategies consistent with company business plan.

- Develop and maintain an effective organization through selection, training, and motivation of all production personnel.

- Initiate and implement programs that lead to reduced cost and improved safety, quality and efficiency.

- Establishing a culture of continuous improvement in all levels of the facility, and for developing and executing plans that achieve continuous improvement in KPI's,  This includes the deployment of manufacturing improvement methodologies, such as LEAN, CPS, 6 Sigma and problem solving skills.

- Development and implementation of a total plant quality system that pertains to suppliers, inputs, processes outputs, and customers.  This includes all elements of the quality policy and procedures, as well as effective process control systems.

- All aspects of safety performance in the facility.  Works with the Safety manager to develop KPI's, assess risks, develop and implement improvement plans and maintain compliance with all safety rules and regulations,

- Understanding the drivers of the Plant organizational health, and to implement communication and alignment processes that provide clarity, productivity, satisfaction, and collaboration.

- Lead, develop and build a high-performing organization capable of managing growth, innovation and transformation.

- Must be able to understand the service industry demands which may require working weekends, extended hours during the week and being on call to support customer requirements.

- Must have a strong customer service attitude to ensure we meet our customer demands.

- Suggest improvements or alternate methods and materials to reduce costs and/or improve quality.

- Coach and lead the continuous improvement process.

- Understand, utilize and maintain value stream boards to communicate the state of the business on a daily basis.

- Maintains a positive attitude in order to influence process improvement activities throughout the organization. 


Ideal candidate will have five or more years of management experience and a strong background in production manufacturing or assembly of diesel and/or gas engines and components.  The use of analytical tools and lean manufacturing principals are essential.  Knowledge in quality disciplines including LEAN, CPS/TPS, Kaisen, Six Sigma, etc. are mandatory. 


Engineering degree with an emphasis in production, manufacturing, industrial engineering or similar experience.
